Albert Jethro, or AJ Chegwidden was once a Navy SEAL who previously served in Vietnam. He is now the commanding officer and the Judge Advocate General of the United States Navy. He has advanced to be the Judge Advocate General by switching from one department of the navy to the next and being the best every time. Chegwidden first appeared in JAG during the first season, along with aide Commander Allison Krennick.
Chegwidden had a relationship with Judge Laura Delaney, who died during season two. He was also once married while he was in Naples, Italy. They had a daughter, Francesca Paretti who still lives in Italy. She has appeared in numerous episodes.
