Major Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie who is portrayed by Catherine Bell, joined JAG in the second season to become Commander Rabb's Marine lawyer sidekick. Mac, as she is known had a drinking problem when she was younger, but stopped after a realising what she was doing when she was in a car accident in which her best friend was killed. Her Uncle was the one who helped her to dry out in the Arizona Hills. Her alcohol problem seems to be the result of an abusive past, knowing that her father was abusive and that she was abandoned by the mother as a child suggests some reasons as to why she is the person she is today. Mac was commissioned as an officer at OCS (Officer Candidate School) and although we do not know how she participated, she served in Bosnia. Mac speaks fluent Farsi and Russian and as a strange co-incidence, she looks *just* like Lt Dianne Schonke (in "Skeleton Crew") This could be beacause Catherine Bell portrayed her in that episode :o) Nothing is known of Mac's personal life beyond her past relationship with Dalton Lowne, a lawyer who at one point wanted her to leave JAG and work at his firm.
